What Is The Purification Process

I first came across the concept of purification back in 2012 when I became friends with some Vajrayana Buddhist practitioners. I had been practicing yoga and meditation and studying some Buddhist teachings for a while before I met them, however, it was during this period that I was actually initiated into the Karma Kagyu (Vajrayana) lineage.

There are three schools of Buddhism: Mahayana, Hinayana, and Vajrayana. It is said that Vajrayana Buddhism holds the teachings and practices that can enable a practitioner to attain enlightenment in a single lifetime.

The methods and practices within Vajrayana Buddhism are designed to purify the mental, emotional, energetic, and physical body to allow for higher vibrational energies and consciousness. It is taught that all human beings have the capacity to become a Buddha, both men and women.

There are a number of practices designed to increase one’s “vibration” to help cultivate a calm mind, focus, and healing. In the “What Can I Expect” section above, I wrote about how healing can feel like taking two steps forward, one step back. The “one step back” is the purification process kicking in.

It feels amazing to raise one’s vibration, whether that be through spiritual practices or from a Body Code healing. By doing this, we get a glimpse into what’s possible, and that’s what keeps people moving forward, despite the uncomfortable, but temporary, purification process afterwards.

There is a perfect quote that sums up this process:

Step into the fire of self-discovery. This fire will not burn you, it will only burn what you are not.” ― Mooji

When we raise our vibration, everything that’s not in alignment with the higher vibrations will purge from our being; Negative emotions, toxins, limiting beliefs, and even toxic relationships with others will naturally fall away.

Spiritual purification is a concept that is often associated with various religious and spiritual practices. It refers to the process of cleansing or purifying one’s spiritual or inner self, often with the intention of achieving a higher level of consciousness, connection with the divine, or personal growth.

The specific practices and beliefs surrounding spiritual purification can vary across different cultures, traditions, and individual beliefs. Here are a few common approaches to spiritual purification:

Rituals and Ceremonies: Many cultures and religions have specific rituals or ceremonies aimed at purifying the spirit. These rituals often involve symbolic actions such as bathing, burning incense or sage, chanting or prayer, and making offerings. The intention is to release negative energies, cleanse the soul, and invite positive energies or spiritual forces.

Meditation and Mindfulness: Practices like meditation, mindfulness, or contemplation can be seen as forms of spiritual purification. By quieting the mind, focusing inward, and observing thoughts and emotions without judgment, individuals seek to purify their consciousness, release attachments, and cultivate inner peace and clarity.

Yoga and Exercise: Yoga was actually first developed as a way to deepen meditation. As described above, meditation allows us to calm the mind and look within to develop deeper awareness and mindfulness. However, when we move our awareness within ourselves we may become more aware of all the pain and tension in our body. Yoga was developed to reduce, or eliminate, the pain and tension in the body, allowing for a deeper and more peaceful meditation practice. Yoga is more than just physical postures (asanas), it also includes breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, ethical principles (yamas and niyamas), and more which speed up the purification process.

Forgiveness and Letting Go: Spiritual purification may involve the process of forgiveness, both of oneself and others. Letting go of grudges, resentments, and negative emotions is seen as a means of freeing the spirit from burdens and achieving emotional and spiritual healing.

Fasting or Dietary Changes: Some spiritual traditions advocate for fasting or adopting specific dietary practices as a means of purifying the body and mind. This can involve abstaining from certain foods or drinks, cleansing diets, or periodic fasting to cleanse the physical body and enhance spiritual awareness.

Sacred Spaces and Nature: Spending time in sacred spaces, such as temples, churches, or natural environments, is believed to facilitate spiritual purification. Connecting with the divine or immersing oneself in the beauty and serenity of nature can help purify the spirit and cultivate a sense of awe, reverence, and inner peace.

The concept of purification after an Emotion Code or Body Code healing can be understood in different ways depending on context and one’s belief system. Here are a few interpretations:

Energetic Purification: Some spiritual or energy healing traditions emphasize the importance of clearing or purifying one’s energy field after a healing session. This may involve practices such as smudging with sacred herbs, taking a cleansing bath or shower, or visualizing the release of any residual negative or stagnant energy. The purpose is to restore balance and harmony to the energy field and support the integration of the healing work that has been done.

Emotional Release: Healing processes can sometimes bring up suppressed or unresolved emotions. After healing, individuals may engage in practices that support emotional release and purification, such as journaling, engaging in therapy or counseling, or participating in rituals that encourage the expression and processing of emotions. The intention is to let go of any emotional baggage and create space for continued healing and personal growth.

Gratitude and Intention Setting: Expressing gratitude for the healing received and setting positive intentions can be seen as a form of purification. This involves acknowledging the progress made, giving thanks for the healing, and setting intentions for ongoing well-being and personal transformation. This practice helps to align one’s energy and focus on positive growth and continued healing.

Rituals or Ceremonies: Various cultures and spiritual traditions have rituals or ceremonies that are performed after healing or recovery from illness. These rituals may involve offerings, prayers, or symbolic actions to honor the healing process, express gratitude, and seek blessings or protection for the future.
