What Is A Heart-Wall?
A heart-wall is a term commonly used in energy healing modalities which refers to trapped emotions that accumulate around the physical heart and heart chakra.
You have probably heard someone say something was “heart-breaking” or “he/she broke my heart”. To experience a “broken heart” can be very painful, and even traumatic, so we create a wall around our heart in an effort to protect ourselves. It may seem counterintuitive to do this, but when we can’t process strong emotions in the present moment they will remain within us until we get to a point where we are ready, and strong enough, to let them go.
When someone experiences emotional pain or trauma, emotions can get trapped in the body and energy field. Sometimes the emotions originate and get stuck around the chest area and, in some cases, trapped emotions also get “pulled” from other parts of the body to the heart; this happens at a subconscious level in an effort to protect oneself from pain.
For example, I cleared a client’s heart-wall and in the next session the heart-wall was back (but with different emotions). Clearing one’s heart-wall can make an individual feel vulnerable and even uncomfortable at first so they may, at a subconscious level “pull” trapped emotions from other parts of their body back around the heart. In these cases, it may take a few sessions before the client feels safe and comfortable to open their heart to the world again.
The heart-wall concept suggests that when we experience intense emotional events, the subconscious mind may create an energetic defense mechanism by layering trapped emotions around the heart. This heart-wall is believed to be composed of trapped emotions that act as a protective shield, shielding us from further emotional pain or vulnerability.
Proponents of the Emotion Code assert that while the heart-wall may initially serve a protective purpose, it can also hinder the ability to give and receive love, experience joy, and form deep connections with others.
The goal of energy healing techniques like the Emotion Code is to identify and release the trapped emotions comprising the heart-wall, allowing for emotional healing and improved well-being.
